This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This is one of those books I have been waiting for almost forever for the library to have received after they purchased it。 Although I knew this book was meant to be a children's book I am actually more surprised that it is also a reader-learning type of book at the same time。 Fortunately it is still interesting enough for me to overlook that aspect。 Since of its reader-format the book is very short although still informative。 The book starts off and ends with 25 facts about mythical, legendar This is one of those books I have been waiting for almost forever for the library to have received after they purchased it。 Although I knew this book was meant to be a children's book I am actually more surprised that it is also a reader-learning type of book at the same time。 Fortunately it is still interesting enough for me to overlook that aspect。 Since of its reader-format the book is very short although still informative。 The book starts off and ends with 25 facts about mythical, legendary and real animals with none of the facts repeating themselves。 This is then compiled in the very end for readers as a "round-up", which is probably the wrong word to use since it isn't too hard to find these facts at all nor was there truly a need for this list to be put together in my opinion。 Otherwise the book itself is split into three chapters - Mistaken Identity, Too Strange To Believe and Mythical Powers。 For those who are into cryptids they will most definitely enjoy the first chapter since it allows them to see those creatures that were once thought to exist in comparison with the actual creature such as the unicorn and narwhal or the kraken and giant squid。 The second chapter explores mythic and legendary creatures than puts forth a case for a creature who offers that trait such as the chimerical-like platypus or the vampire deer。 And the last one explores different abilities that animals have that makes them mythical-like such as shooting blood or other caustic sprays or even running on water。 Each entry is very simple to read and understand with some pronunciation included。 At the same time there are plenty of additional boxes included that provides the reader with more in-depth information about animals - legendary or real - while helping to connect the world of the imagination to the world of the real。 And the pages are brightly colored while full of colored photographs to help readers to be able to put a creature face to the name for those who are curious。 All in all this is a great book for children who like animals whether real or imaginary while giving them a seat into a world of wonder and truth。 。。。more
